Synopsis

A touching story of an Italian book seller of Jewish ancestry who lives in his own little fairy tale. His creative and happy life would come to an abrupt halt when his entire family is deported to a concentration camp during World War II. While locked up he tries to convince his son that the whole thing is just a game.

Simply magnificent (an incredible combination of humor and drama), this film is not just another war movie; this film is humor, tenderness, love, and drama. You'll find all of this here. "Seriously, what a way to love!" With comedic scenes that sometimes make you forget you're watching a film set during World War II. Very moving and original, with excellent actors, especially the child actor, and an extraordinary soundtrack. I recommend watching it in its original language; it conveys the emotions better. For anyone who wants to see films with themes of love, family, the Holocaust, and World War II, and wants to laugh a lot and then cry uncontrollably minutes later, this is the film I recommend. Watch it; you won't regret it.

An impressive film about the human soul. It deals with the theme of father, son and love more for me than genocide. For those who want to watch another holocaust movie, I recommend "Schindler's List". "The Pianist" can be watched as a genocide movie that still reflects the war.
