A friend of mine asked me to watch this movie, and even though this isn't the type of film I, on my own, would pick up, I had to watch it. See, it's hard to say no to these people when you have become their film-sensei, and all they watch are your recommendations. But asking me to watch 'Together' was the second sinful act after the 'Thor' recommendation. - I got to stay away from these people, I know. - So, watching 'Together' was more painful than listening to my mother gossip with my grandma - I lose interest and don't get a thing. Here, they bring up topics relevant to everyone, a couple re-evaluating their relationship, and Covid-19 - can't go wrong in terms of everybody finding it relatable, right? It does! The film starts in a rush, and it stays like that throughout. These two characters are all over the place. The film bombards you with dialogue, back and forth the whole time are these two characters talking, and you don't get attached to any of that. You don't feel them, and that's because of the writing. The film has a bad case of words from the filmmaker's mouth; when you see a character talking, and you feel that that's just the writer writing out their opinion through him. And that ruins the personage because what's the point of characterization then? James was good at parts, and then it wasn't. I mean, he tried, but you can't salvage the performance with the writing being this bad. Not to mention the cheesy sentimental part of it that feels so unearned. It's like a first-year film student wrote this. And, a film is supposed to be a visual experience more than anything. But I don't know which is the last film whose camera was as lazy as in this. - A stylistic choice? It may be. What I know for sure is that it didn't work!
