The desperation of the wives and mothers, who are treated like crap, married off young, and physically abused, is highlighted in the series. The fact that no one thought of going after them before is astonishing and points out the blind spots of a male-dominated law enforcement organization.
It will be fascinating to see how willing they are to cooperate and bring down the 'Ndrangheta, particularly in light of Lea's fate.
