It is a beautiful drama that is so much more than just a coming-of-age story for children. The movie adaptation is faithful to the book and features superb performances from the cast.
The setbacks that Margaret faces, from being bullied at school to dealing with her family's quarrels, are portrayed with heart-wrenching realism. On the other hand, her moments of triumph and communal celebration are uplifting and inspiring.
