Yes it might remind you of some other post-apocalyptic movies, and might be a bit slow. But I like slow movies that give you a warm feeling and a smile. This was nice to watch in a cozy night. Tom hanks is such a hero!

Being the director of what I consider the pinnacle of television - at least from a directing standpoint -; the unshakeably perfect 'Battle of the Bastards' episode from GOT, Sapochnik's second feature was a must-watch for me. So, I had to watch this as a form of respect for the director, but, from what I had heard about the movie, I wasn't very enthusiastic about it. I kept my expectations low, and still, the film left me unsatisfied.
'Finch' is a film I've watched so many times. Miguel used a safe template on this one. I mean, beyond the plot, which - judging by the movies released this last couple of years - it's one of Hollywood's favorites, the camera, the writing, the acting, and pretty much everything else in this film doesn't bring anything new into the picture. The screenplay is what bugs me the most. It's full of cliches and sentimental over the top. Filled with cheesy lines and often convenient writing (the restaurant scene), the script it's easily the worst part of the movie.
As for the acting, Hanks, as always, delivers a somewhat engaging performance as he holds the whole weight of the film on his shoulders. He seems to have gotten the hang of playing this type of character, but again, it's nothing extraordinary, just a respectful effort on his part.
Essentially, 'Finch,' although not a disastrous film, it's the most redundant piece of filmmaking I've seen all year (the stupid 'Black Widow' movie doesn't count). Passable!
