A boy in New York is taken in by a wealthy family after his mother is killed in a bombing at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. In a rush of panic, he steals 'The Goldfinch', a painting that eventually draws him into a world of crime.

Was so excited to watch this movie based on one of my favorite novels by Donna Tartt but was rather disappointed. If you try to squeeze all of the 700+ pages into a movie even if a lengthy one, you end up loosing the essence. Instead, the screenplay should have focused on the main ideas of the novel, like e.g. the utter loneliness of Theo or irreversibility of trauma.
