Synopsis

I really loved the outfits and the music, Margot and Ryan were absolutely perfect and the cast as a whole was amazing. Also seeing Ncuti Gatwa being the Ken to Emma Mackey Barbie and Connor Swindels playing that awkward guy from Mattel as a huge s*x education fan and the teeth guy from fleabag?!
Some jokes were genuinely funny but some sadly landed flat, but maybe those were for a younger audience. The political aspect worked most of the time in my opinion. What I really liked was that she included the catcalling scene. My favourite scenes were the pool party dancing scene and the depression barbie scene.
I did like the mother from the real world (Gloria) but I’m not sure I liked Sasha a lot, since I’m a bit tired of the woke gen z teenager trope, however I did kinda like the scene at her school. I really appreciate Greta Gerwigs attention to detail and how her movies always seem made for the female gaze. (lady bird, little women) She clearly put so much work into this movie and did her best to portray barbie as the toy that shaped generations and have a more progressive take on the franchise. She also did a good job at making this movie for people of any age, although I maybe would’ve preferred it to be for a specific generation. It was a bit too long and some things seemed a bit forced, but all in all, I enjoyed every minute of this movie and seeing everyone in their pink outfits was perfect.

Positive: the film shows the role that the Barbie doll had at the base (which was missed) thus mocking Mattel. Crush on Ryan Gosling who is incredible in Ken clearly stealing the show from Margot Robbie. And his music i'm just Ken we love it! I loved the outfits in this movie.
Negative: the scenario, absence of lightness and humor in this film. Too many messages on patriarchy and feminism that it quickly becomes heavy. The sets in view of the budget what a disappointment, apart from Barbiland it is poor.
