Cinema Paradiso is one of the most touching, nostalgic, beautiful and emotional movies I have ever seen. This is an ode to cinema and friendship. Ennio and Andrea Morricone's music makes the movie even more charming and sentimental. The final scene is one of the most powerful and perfect endings ever! Ocean of emotions! Thank you, Giuseppe Tornatore for such a masterpiece! Note: I highly recommend watching short theatrical version (apprx. 2 hrs long) and only then watch added scenes from the director's cut. The director's version somehow takes away the magic and makes the movie more down to earth.

There aren't enough words to describe such a masterpiece. Moving music, actors and script. No matter how hard you try, probably no comment about this jewel will be able to even minimally equal its value.

I have never been a big fan of Italian cinema, but I liked this one, and because of that I think that it’s safe to say now that if a film it’s about cinema I’ll end up loving it. But Cinema Paradiso it’s about much more than that.
It's rare to come across a film done with so much love as Cinema Paradiso. I didn’t look it up on the internet, but I bet this story must have been very personal to Tornatore. Intimate for the director but not only. Every film lover will find this film a bit relatable. The film is about love, love for cinema and above all it’s about friendship. It’s one of those rare films that will make you feel a ton of different emotions, but with effortless grace, it will never let you put your smile away from beginning to end.
I loved everything about this movie, the cinematography, the production design, the music, everything, but above all, I loved the storytelling. Tornatore does such a great job of putting you in the perspective of the main character from the very beginning. He dictates the film with such passion that evokes real genuine emotions, using editing superbly well, as he did, for example, at the moment when Toto leaves. He cuts the scene exactly when Toto it’s on the train looking at everybody he’s leaving behind, and immediately after that, we see the airplane that it’s bringing him back – the film it’s full of perfect moments like this.
Cinema Paradiso is such a bittersweet film, a film that is consistently funny and sad at parts. And that ending, it is amongst all the perfect moments of this film, the greatest one.

Cinema Paradiso. It is synonymous with love, dreams, friendship, it is a sublime story of a friendship between a child and an adult. That goes beyond time, a teenage love that makes you feel like a teenager, lost of friends that have to go. Adult regrets, but above all the constant reminder that everything is done with effort and dedication of what you want.
Highly recommended, the director's cut.
