Synopsis

The youngest of King Triton’s daughters, and the most defiant, Ariel longs to find out more about the world beyond the sea, and while visiting the surface, falls for the dashing Prince Eric. With mermaids forbidden to interact with humans, Ariel makes a deal with the evil sea witch, Ursula, which gives her a chance to experience life on land, but ultimately places her life – and her father’s crown – in jeopardy.

I have been enchanted by Halle Bailey and her beautiful voice, the two hours flew by, I revived my childhood memories, I wish my mother was alive to see this version with her, the first version (the animated one) I saw with her, it was beautiful relive pleasant memories and forget about everything during that time.

Visually very beautiful film. Triton and Ariel are well interpreted. Favorite for Vanessa (too bad we see her very little) and Ursula even if she lacks this little crazy side very present in the cartoon and not in the film. Disappointment of Prince Eric, no charisma, and who looks very childish. The added and modified songs add nothing to the film. The film is faithful to the cartoon but we would once again have liked the differences with risk-taking... Finally, the realism of the film makes it lose its magic and fantasy with Sébastien and Flounder who are cuter in the cartoon. Personal point of view: I prefer adaptations of Disney films with either modifications or new scenarios such as Cruella, Maleficent because for all the adaptations in films the cartoons remain unbeatable.
