Padmaavat was bad (even for my low expectations)! It’s soaked in usual masala ranging from the lovey dovey stuff to the drama of the soutan queen Naagmati.
They could have easily trimmed the movie with an hour. The whole mad/comical, dancing sultan Khilji vibe was out of place. Deepika Padukone looked like the queen but rolewise she was limited in her scope with a few good scenes here and there. Focus seemed to be on looking pretty and either cry or smile, while Deepika is clearly capable of more.
But it had some good things too. The movie was visually stunning as usual and fit for a 3d release. The music was good and in line with the flow while keeping songs at a minimum. Shahid Kapoor was surprisingly good in his role as the king.
And finally the actors speaking Urdu in the movie got their accent and pronounciation right for a change!
