Twilight 2008 is the first film in the saga. Events unfold in a small and gloomy town in America called Forks. 17 Bella Swan, played by Kristen Stewart, comes to live with her father, the local police sheriff. Where she meets Edward, cold, fast and very attractive.
The characters in the picture are very stereotypical. A quiet, depressed teenage girl who doesn't consider herself beautiful and doesn't stand out from the crowd in any way. But at the same time, all the guys are crazy about her. And macho, rich, handsome, but inaccessible. Which draws attention to the gray mouse - the main character of the saga. And he considers it his duty to get her, while being rude and constantly repelling her.
I am very disturbed by the way the film idealizes the toxic relationships of the main characters. Edward's quote "If you're smart, stay away from me", but at the same time I will appear in your life whenever I want, climb through the window into your bedroom and watch you sleep, and when you notice my super abilities, I will gaslight you.
But at the same time, the film very clearly falls into the desires of its target audience, thanks to a woman director. The film was created specifically for depressed thirteen year old girls who dream of a beautiful love story. And the film, among other things, won in the nomination "Best Film" Kristen Steward in the nomination "Best Actress", and Robert Pattinson "Best Breakthrough of the Year" according to the MTV Movie Award 2009.
This saga has definitely made its actors famous and given them a lot of opportunities for further growth. For me, twilight is a movie to knit a sweater on a rainy autumn evening because I'm 21 and I'm not the target audience. But when I was 13 this movie just appeared on TV screens and I fell in love with it and watched it on the sly from adults, because they said that I was too young for this film, how ironic.
