Synopsis

Jaded 74-year-old lizard Leo has been stuck in the same Florida classroom for decades with his terrarium-mate turtle. When he learns he only has one year left to live, he plans to escape to experience life on the outside but instead gets caught up in the problems of his anxious students — including an impossibly mean substitute teacher.

I wasn’t expecting much of this movie and I still ended up enjoying it less then I thought I would. The musical aspect took away from the movie I think because the songs weren’t overall interesting or catchy. I also think the animation style fell a little short, it looked at some times like a low budget movie. Adam Sandler also missed the mark a bit with his audience. I would expect a child to watch and enjoy this movie but a lot of the jokes were references a child wouldn’t get like the shape of water reference. Usually I would ride it off as a fun joke for the parents who have to watch this 30 times with their kids, but it just didn’t seem to work with this movie. All that being said maybe a kid would have a different opinion. The morals are good and are easy for children to digest so props for that.
