Disconnect is a powerful social drama with thriller elements. It is somewhat similar to "Crash" by Paul Haggis (3 interconnected storylines, emotional ending, stunning cast), but covers the issues of personal data theft, cyber-bullying and underage online sex performers. The movie is quite realistic and painfully relatable, especially cyber-bullying storyline (the most plausible one). The story unfolds quite slowly, but has extremely emotional and intense moments. Some might find these moments overly melodramatic though. Meanwhile, I enjoyed brilliant performances by teens and superstars (including Jason Bateman, Alexander Scarsgard, Frank Grillo, Paula Patton, Hope Davis and even Marc Jacobs🤯). Overall, I liked this movie and would recommend watching it together with teenagers (if I am not mistaken in some countries this has been already practiced in schools under adult supervision).
